Natural capital comprises the earth's resources of water, air, land and its systems and products, energy from the sun, wind and tides and human resources.
Conventional capital has been understood to be monetary instruments, infrastructure and investments. There exists a market system which attributes values to these without a true cost being placed on the apparently free resources consumed in their creation. Were the real price of air, water, land, people and plants easily costed and included in the ledger sound business principles dictate that the original consumers would have a greater consideration of the amount used and wasted.
Unfortunately we cannot calculate a cost for these precious resources as there is no replacement at any price, it follows their value is infinite.
Our purpose is to assume the highest cost – the future of our childrens habitat is at stake – and encourage the application of systems and processes which prizes these precious resources appropriately and encourage action to maximize the utility of and minimize the waste of such priceless resources.
